Truth or Consequence?

Word of the day:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”– Romans 6:23

This verse proves that having faith is not just a norm in a society. We better pick a choice to live a life worthy to be praised by God, or live it on our own.

It’s a lie that living a christian walk is lonely, self-inflicted trouble that depriving us to decide on our own. Sometimes, it appears that way but it takes discipline and patience to realize the bottom line – that God is in a business of santifying His body. And since each member is connected to the Body, he/she have to submit to delegated authority appointed by God through the church. It takes humbleness and obedience to let someone rule over you, but as they are accountable to God for their lives as well as their member’s lives, you got to trust them. If you can’t trust them whom you can see, how much more can you trust God whom you never saw at all?

Each belief and ideology is subject against the test of time. As for me, it is the changed life that is a proof of God’s reign in a person’s life. We can shout at the top of our lungs and jump for joy when we are inside the church, yet broken inside. We have to allow God to do the mending. We have to allow God to lift us up, mold us as we grow from glory to glory.

On the other hand, walking on our own seems to be freedom. Freedom from laws and limitations. But the reality is you are in bondage. Bondage of guilt and doubt. It’s like walking in the vast darkness, clueless of what’s lie ahead. Sometimes, we tend to justify our own means of actions by trusting majority of the people who are doing the same. It’s not the number that determines righteousness. In the Philippines on 1986, when the EDSA revolution triumphed against the dictatorship of then president the late Mr. Marcos, one politician declared : “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” since millions of people participated in the said rally. That’s wrong! The voice of the people doesn’t always have to be the voice of God.

Better yet, just claim that “you and God is a majority,” because as long as God is in you, you are far greater than the multitude.

Choose to walk in the light. Be free from the bondage of sins and iniquities, and consequences of self-inflicted mistakes and wickedness. Since death is the finality of living in sins, we better be serious and get down to business. We only have one life to live, let’s not trade ourselves to failure, because we are called to live a life to the fullest, ‘til we have eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isn’t it fair to give our very best to our Maker?
