Running the Race

Word of the day:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,” Hebrews 12:1 NIV

It’s a great feat to win a race. People compete with each other for a prize. We have to possess qualities that surpass our competitors for us to arrive first in the finish line. Moreover, we should have the patience and endurance til the end.

Jesus did not promised us a smooth-sailing ride. What He promised us is that He will stay with us. But He can only dwell in a prayerful heart, in an obedient heart. Moreover, God hates sins, so we better throw off EVERYTHING, as the scripture quotes, that hinders us. Throw off our past that keeps us from advancing, throw off our present habitual thoughts – those incorrect thought patterns that we used to think when we’re still in the world. We can’t confess we’re in the light yet living in sins. In short, stop compromising.

A lot of people (they’re really good ones with potentials) are given up, we love them, but we can’t stay where they choose to stay, because our God is moving! Let’s run this race. A lot His people are out there, running for the prize, the great assurance is that, ALL of His people shall reach the finish line. Be one of them, run the race, and we’ll finish strong.

The key to survive in this dying generation is to live for the glory of God. God bless you.

Additional Insight;

“such great cloud of witnesses” are men and women of God. They endured hardships and persecutions. They testified the goodness and faithfulness of the Most High God. They displayed awesome power of God as they embrace him… men and women who served as example – those who trusted God, and how their convictions advanced the kingdom of God.

They are happy for our convictions as we endure everything, as we carry our “cross.” May we be encouraged. Allow God to move in our lives. Over and over, He’d proven to be faithful. And He’ll always be faithful, no matter what. Even if circumstances tell us otherwise, we know He is faithful. Let’s not be troubled and be hesitant. God, in His might, will make our situations in our favor. Look forward to that, it’s worth all of our waiting and long-sufferings…because He is God.
